Words Cannot Express Hummus I Love Chickpeas

I am addicted to hummus. Therefore, I eat A LOT of hummus. Hummus usually contains a ton of olive oil and tahini (good fats but but too much fat considering how often I eat it). So I decided to come up with a version that was oil-free and tahini free – and oh my god is it ever good. It’s also very simple and easy to make. You’ll need a food processor (my favourite kitchen appliance), or a high speed blender (although I find it hard to get the hummus out once it’s mixed).

Hummus

  • 1 tin of chick peas
  • 1 clove garlic
  • lemon juice (to taste)
  • salt (to taste)
  • water
  • paprika
  • chili peppers

Process the chick peas, garlic, lemon juice, and salt together, adding small amounts of water until the desired consistency is achieved. Garnish with paprika and chili peppers.

I usually use the hummus as a dip and cut up veggies like zucchini, carrots, cucumber, peppers, and tomato, or I’ll use it as a topping on a buddha bowl. Or if I’m really in the mood for hummus I’ll simply grab a spoon!

There you have it! Simple, delicious, guilt-free hummus. Enjoy.

  1. I’m a big fan of hummus myself. I don’t eat so much that I have to worry about the fats/oils in it, but I will have to give your recipe a try.

p.s. Thanks for the like at Self-help Health. I always appreciate when someone takes the time to do that, plus it helps lead me back to what they’re up to, like this engaging blog of yours. Love the title and descriptive sub-title. Keep up the good work!

  2. Bravo on your guilt-free hummus recipe. I love it too. I often just buy it, but might give your recipe a whirl just because the ingredients are easy to find, and it seems like a cinch to make. I like anything that makes my plant-based lifestyle more tasty. Great share!
