An Apple A Day

The World Health Organization defines health as a “complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.  Health is a holistic state of wellness of the entire body, meaning all areas of the body are strong, resilient, and resistant. Wellness is a state where the body is thriving – not just simply getting by. A plant-based, whole foods diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans legumes, nuts and seeds is the key to achieve this optimal level of true health.

The abundance of vitamins and minerals in a plant-based diet will make your skin clear and glowy, and less prone to wrinkles due to increased collagen production. The vitamins and minerals will also make your hair shinier and your nails stronger. The low level of cholesterol and saturated fats in this diet might mean you even drop a few pounds. Not only will you look good, you will feel good too as the high amount of complex carbohydrates increases energy levels drastically. Many people also report sleeping better and feeling more rested once switching to a plant-based diet. This diet is also protective against diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, heart disease, hypertension, stroke, obesity, and cancer.

There’s a reason for the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”.  It’s long been known that in order to be healthy, you need to eat your fruits and vegetables. It makes sense then that a plant-based diet would then be the healthiest diet to follow. Aren’t you tired of well, feeling tired? Of constantly breaking out? Of not being able to lose those last 5 pounds? Wouldn’t you like to feel amazing, and look it too? You owe it to yourself to be the best version of you, why not give this lifestyle a try and see how you feel! I promise you it will change your life for the better, it did for me!
